Painted and illustrated portraits
The Legacy of Walt Disney
One of Saskia's creative heroes. A triptych painting featuring Walt Disney in the center with two of his first creations: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey Mouse. The left panel features characters from some of Disney's successes during his life. The right panel features characters from Disney classics in the decades after his passing.
This triptych painting was created with acrylic paint on gessoboard.
Portraits are very personal, and something Saskia doesn't often, but does like to do. It costs an great deal of time to capture someone's personality on the canvas. Only one incorrect stroke of the pencil or brush, and the portrait ceases to resemble the original.
Most portraits Saskia created have a personal meaning to her, unless commissioned.
Daily Sketch Journal
In 2016 Saskia kept a Daily Sketch Journal. A diary in which she drew each and every day. She had one rule: each sketch would not take more than 45 minutes to create. The result is a series of fast drawn sketches, like the portraits underneath.
