Pretty soon after Saskia started drawing and painting again in 2010, she started with using acrylic paint. She especially likes working with the glazing technique: adding layer after layer of transparent paint, giving more depth to a painting.
Painting with acrylic paint
On this page you'll find a summary of Saskia's current acrylic paintings. Sometimes she uses canvas as a medium, or wood, but she prefers working with masonite/gessoboard. Simply because it allows her to add even more fine details. Although acrylic paint is fast drying, Saskia doesn't find it hard to blend the colors on her palet or on her medium.
These are all loose paintings. They do not contain complete series.

The Missing Piece
This is one of the paintings Saskia created in the year after her mother's passing. Saskia's niece was told that her grandmother Mia now is a star in heaven.
Saskia combined this with the idea of the Blue Morpho butterfly, to her a symbol of her mom. Butterflies are also the symbol of transformation, and of the souls of the dead.
Created with acrylic paint on gessoboard.
