When I first started on Instagram, a whole world opened up to me. So many artists, and so many beautiful artworks. One of the artists I started following soon after was Qinniart. She created these beautiful manga-like based on her life and the things she went through. And now... this beautifully talented artist is no more.
Galaxies for Qinni
One of Qing Han's favorite subjects were stars. Beautiful drawings of girls with galaxies on their faces adorn her Instagram account.
On February 8th 2020 Qinni lost the battle against cancer, when she was 29 years of age. She already had gone through so much health-wise. Four times she underwent openheart surgery. This is stuff that has a huge impact on one's life. I know because I witnessed it close-hand, when my hubbie underwent quadruple bypass surgery. I was 23 weeks pregnant back then.
Despite her health issues Qinni was positive and strong, and she coped with all she went through by drawing. To be able to show your emotions so openly like she did, is something I deeply respect.
The news of her passing, touched me to the core, even though I never knew her personally.
This is an effect she had on a lot of people, because very soon after the news came, Instagram was overflowed by drawing based on Qinni's art. Hashtag GalaxiesforQinni was called into action. The idea was to fill Instagram with the thing Qinniart loved the most: the stars.
This was an initiative I gladly joined in. And so I created this drawing, based on her star freckled girl. Her original is next to my versionon my Instagram account.
Rest in peace Qing Han
