In week 3 of Drawlloween I created Pandora’s Box, one of my favorite illustrations so far. Although I did not do a lot of different illustrations this week, I’m proud of these two I did create. And of course, it’s not so much about quantity, as it is about quality 😉
Pandora’s Box big eye illustration

From the two prompt lists I used for Drawlloween, these are the themes for this week:
Camilla d’Errico’s Drawlloween Killer Bees list:
- Honeyman
- Beemara
- Stinghead
- Michael Beeyers
- Insanibee
- Count Buzzula
- The Beebadook
- The Beexorcist
- Beelien
Camille Pfister’s Girlfriends of Halloween list:
- Murder at Versailles
- Guro lolita
- Clown

I’m not such a fan of clowns. I always find them a bit freaky in a weird, scary kind of way. Perhaps I have seen the movie It a bit too often…
But when I saw the clown featured on Camille Pfister’s list, I was immediately inspired to do an illustration with a circus theme. Why not draw a clown opening Pandora’s Box, where all different sort of killer bees come out?
So the result is an illustration of a big eyed clown girl, balancing on a big ball while opening the box, and out come all the previously mentioned killer bees from Camilla d’Errico’s prompt list.
I like how she turned out. A circus poster kind of way, and her eyes have actual depth in them. This is definitely one of my favorite drawings of this year.
Murder at Versailles illustration
But then there was this theme ‘Murder at Versailles’. What would I make of this??
Of course Versailles was built by France’s perhaps most well-known king, Louis XIV. And if you’re a bit familiar with Alexandre Dumas’s work, then you’ve undoubtedly heard of the story of the Man in the Iron Mask.
I thought this would be a great basis to my illustration. I gave it a little twist, and my story does not end that well because well, one of the twins ends up dead…
So here’s my illustration of Louisa and Philippa, with a guro lolita as innocent bystander.
All of these illustrations I created are for sale. Check my Etsy store for all the listings, or send me a message through e-mail. Want to see all the illustrations I did for Drawlloween? Then check my illustration gallery.
