On Instagram there is an art group, of which I have been a proud member for several years now. The Surreal Harmony Art Collective is focused on creating beautiful pop-surrealistic art, and organizes several art auctions each year. Because the holiday is coming up, this month it is time for a Halloween auction.

Often with big eyed pieces like mine. But everyone has their own style. Former members who have reached stardom within popsurrealism are artists like Camille Pfister, Ivana Flores and Marie Larkin. I myself am especially a fan of Camille Pfister. She has such a whimsical style of illustrating. She never ceases to amaze me with the way her imagination works. Her piece ‘the Death of Ice’ spoke to me in such a way, that I just had to go and buy the original illustration from her.
I myself always feel humbled by artists like these. It always reminds me of the fact that I still have so much learning to do when it comes to creating art. I hope that one day I will be as good as these ladies in making imaginary worlds come to life, and that my pieces speak to people in such a way they want to hang them on their walls. But it’s always good to know that all these artists have had to start out like I did.
Fire Demon oil painting
But I’m forgetting why I’m writing this article. It is to remind you of the fact that the Surreal Harmony Art Collective is hosting a Halloween auction from September 25th until September 28th, 2020. I did a little piece using my water soluble oil paints. My fire demon was painted on a deep cradled wood panel. I did a little detour from my usual work, and followed the lines of the wood grains to create this piece.

Happy Halloween everybody!
